Ahh yes, a Caribbean vacation! Glorious sunshine, warm sea breeze and the smell of coconut-scented tanning oil. Admit it, there’s nothing quite like an island escape. What could be more heavenly than exploring long stretches of sandy coastline, taking a dip in the salty sea or basking in the sunshine? It’s no wonder that visitors flock aboard catamaran cruises to indulge in all this and then some.
I’m Morgan, a Caribbean girl and self-proclaimed water baby. This is my guide to some of the must-do catamaran options! So, grab a fruity cocktail and set sail with me across the Caribbean to take in the sights, sounds & smells of the Caribbean from the best seat in the house.
Antigua: Power 360 Cruise
Antigua – land of 365 beaches, one for every day of the year! Don’t believe me? Then why not head out on a power catamaran to circumnavigate the island and count them for yourself! I guarantee you’ll totally forget this mission once you set sail, sip on rum punch and become captivated by the sunshine dancing on the water.
Jamaica: Dunn’s River Catamaran Cruise
This tour wins the popularity contest hands down! Maybe it’s the unlimited drinks, the live DJ spinning the tunes and the snorkeling with tropical fish. Or, maybe it’s because Island Routes knows that the best catamaran cruises are more than simple sails; they show you something unique and iconic about where you are. In Jamaica there’s no attraction more iconic than Dunn’s River Falls. Even for us locals the dramatic cascading falls has an awe-inspiring effect – climbing up is a must-do at least once in your life!
Barbados: Luxury Catamaran Cruise
I don’t know about you but I’m all about that jet-set life! Never mind what’s on my birth-certificate, Luxury is my middle name. When it comes to truly unforgettable experiences I can think of nothing better than sipping some bubbly on a Luxury Catamaran Cruise in Barbados. A 5 hour tour that includes snorkeling and a gourmet lunch sounds like my cup of tea (or glass of Prosecco) *cheers*
Turks & Caicos: Sesame Sail Away Catamaran Cruise
You read that right – Seasame, like Seasame Street! Imagine creating fond memories with Elmo and friends on the open ocean on a ‘sunny dayyy’ (see what I did there?). This 2 hour experience in Turks & Caicos is the ultimate memory maker and is fueled by the smiles of children and a warm ocean breeze. It’s short, sweet and perfect for the little ones and the big kids alike!
Grenada: Seafood Snorkel Cruise
Grenada is a true gem. It’s rustic, unspoiled Caribbean charm is nothing short of breathtaking. One of the best ways to explore this paradise is by boarding a catamaran and sailing along the coast to a secluded beach to indulge in mouth-watering seafood (lobster when in season). Yes, it’s true…food makes everything better!
St. Lucia: Chocolate Decadence
Remember when I said food makes everything better? I wasn’t kidding. This land & sea experience is themed around, you guessed it, chocolate! Sail to Soufriere, the home of the iconic Pitons and the renowned Hotel Chocolat. Learn about cocoa production, make your own chocolate bar and indulge in a gourmet lunch where every item on the menu incorporates cocoa. After this cocoa indulgence you also get to experience the mud baths, snorkeling and a sunset sail. That’s a day well spent in my book!
St. Maarten: Sunset Cruise
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the mesmerizing delight of a Caribbean sunset at sea. The colors! Oh the colors! Blazing orange, red, pink, purple and ever shade in between grace the horizon signalling the end of a glorious Caribbean day.
No matter which Caribbean destination you choose, there is nothing as peaceful as laying on the bow of a catamaran feeling the soft rocking of the waves as the warm ocean breeze soothes your soul. Yes, it’s my happy place and myself and the Island Routes team are thrilled to share it with you!
